Ryleva, A. N. - On the Question of Understanding What Culture is and its Consequences for Teaching. pp. 0-0
Abstract: The article considers the definition of culture which is the most adequate in regard to the latest studies of human speech activity proving that ‘speech formation’ and ‘culture formation’ are becoming practically synonymous now. It is asserted that in the 21st century, human existence is defined by the consistency of outcasts from niches, stratum and etc. but not the consistency of social bonds. Under such conditions construction of one’s personal ‘first world’ is nothing else but a construction of one’s own individual and na ve culture. The author of the article suggests one of the possible methods of teaching cultural studies which would allow to master universal intellectual operations and to focus on a personality living in an ever-changing world.

Popov D.A. - The Ratio of Content and Entertainment in the Operas of Giacomo Meyerbeer pp. 13-21

DOI:

EDN: GFHLSO

Abstract: The object of the study is the work of the French composer of the XIX century Giacomo Meyerbeer, the subject of the study is the informative and entertaining components of his work. The most famous works of the famous maestro are used for analysis: "Robert the Devil", "Huguenots", "The Prophet", "Dinora". The author examines the ratio of "meaningful" and "entertaining" components in the dramatic and musical construction of the opera from the viewpoint of the traditional art of the XIX century installation "Entertaining - to teach!". The aim of the study is to correct the thesis about entertainment as the main drawback of Meyerbeer's operas, since all works of stage art, including his contemporaries, cannot do without an entertainment component. The main conclusion of the study is that the meaningful, instructive side in Meyerbeer's works is formally preserved, which, at first glance, makes the reproaches of his critics meaningless. However, upon closer examination, it turns out that the content of the operas is emasculated, reduced to the level of platitudes and cliches, becomes contradictory and even ridiculous, while the entertainment side is strengthened and becomes the leading one. Thus, the reproach of entertainment against Meyerbeer should be corrected: their defect is not that they entertain, but that they lose a meaningful component. This model of the ratio of entertainment and content will later be used by modern mass art.

Rozin V.M. - Prolegomena to the Theory of Questioning pp. 26-36

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2019.7.29906

Abstract: The article represents the variant of methodological introduction to the theory of questioning. The theme of constructing this theory is stated; two principal historical stages of questioning practice comprehension are distinguished (in antiquity and modern era). Two traditional approaches to the analysis of questioning - formally logical and philosophical - are characterized. Concepts 'practice with a questioning', 'sphere of questioning', 'situation of questioning', and 'communication of questioning' are introduced. These concepts were later used in the process of reconstruction of questions and answers in A Confession by L.N. Tolstoy. In the research, the following methodology is implemented: problem defining, situational analysis, the introduction of new concepts, reconstruction of the work, methodological scenario planning. As a result of the study, it was possible to define a number of concepts which are important for constructing a theory of questioning (teaching of questioning) and also plan the methodological scheme of such a theory. The reconstruction of questioning in A Confession, the famous Tolstoy's piece of work, in which were used such concepts as 'sphere of questioning', 'situation of questioning', and 'communication of questioning', is proposed.

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2018.3.25790

Abstract: In this research Korpan analyzes the concepts of 'language' of the artwork created by V. Kandinsky, researchers of the State Academy of Fine Arts (in particular, N. Volkov and A. Gabrichevsky) and Ya. Chernikhov from the point of view of the influence of these concepts on the development of visual communications of the 20th century. Based on the non-figurative fine art of the Russian avant-garde, artists and philosophers tried to create the 'language' that would be universal for all kinds of arts, and the theory of morphogenesis (V. Kandinsky and other researchers of the State Academy of Fine Arts) as well as a universal instrument for all kinds of visual communication (Ya. Chernikhov). The author of this article carries out a comparative analysis of different concepts of 'language' of art, defines general elements and principles of morphogenesis that had the greatest impact on the development of visual communications of the 20th century. The novelty of the research is caused by the fact that the author views the theories of Kandinsky, N. Volkov, A. Gabrichevsky and Ya. Chernikhov as an integral concept that resulted in further development of methods and techniques of visual communication up to creation graphical user interfaces. The results of the research can be used to develop the system of graphical symbols (including computer interfaces) and in the field of graphic design.

Rozin V.M. - “Cultures is the content of education” (Efim I. Passov’s revolutionary concept of foreign-language education) pp. 47-57

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2021.5.35498

Abstract: This article discusses the concept of foreign-language education of E. Passov. The author divides this concept into two parts: the first represents a general new concept of education with culturological and personalistic orientation; while the second represents concretization of this concept in relation to teaching foreign languages. Analysis is conducted on the definitions of communication and situation introduced by E. Passov, which mediate V. S. Bibler’s concept of the “dialogue of cultures” and the new semiotically communicative practice of teaching foreign language. The author demonstrates that E. Passov offers fundamental restructuring of the paradigm foundations of education, orienting it towards the dialogue of cultures, individualization, communication, equal horizontal relations teacher – student relations. Instead of cognition and digestion of normative contents, the puts the desire and motivation to learning alongside spiritual becoming and competence of creative activity to the forefront of the educational process. The author analyzes the method and means of specification of the general foreign-language concept of education offered by E. Passov – modeling of culture, classification of communication situations and language meanings, techniques and technologies used in foreign-language education. Attention is given to the fact that E. Passov has a nontraditional perspective upon techniques and technology – as the competencies and abilities developed by a young person in the course of education.

Rozin V.M. - How to act culture-congruently in the conditions of deep crisis of modern culture? pp. 67-75

DOI:
10.7256/2454-0625.2020.8.33441

Abstract: This article discusses the problem of culture-congruent social action in the conditions of cultural crisis. Attention is turned to the fact that the principles of conformity to natural laws and cultural congruency were originally formulated in the pedagogy (Pestalozzi, Froebel, Diesterweg); however, since the comprehension of culture has changes significantly, these principles require reconsideration.  In this context, it is suggested to differentiate the modern culture, national cultures, and post-culture. Analysis is conducted on the crisis phenomena of modernity and national cultures. The article lists the current development trends that comprise post-culture, the processes and structure of which are being formed, but yet not clear. Therefore, the future is characterized with complexity and uncertainty. Based on the proposed differentiation and concepts, the author examines two ways of culture-congruent actions. One suggests the revision of usual coherent (i.e. common to the entire culture) ideas, while the other – setting the whole and essence of the phenomena of modernity and post-culture. In the author’s opinion, the need to re-establish in the usual concepts and setting the whole is not the study of culture, but a methodological criticism and structuring of patterns and hypothetical scenarios. For better understanding of this approach, the two extended examples are presented: S. Benhabib's discussion of migration policy and the author's project of a new cultural meaning of post-culture.

Abstract: The subject of this research is the project process of introducing the art of traditional ornament into the multimedia space. The relevance and novelty of the topic are caused by the use of motifs of Russian traditional ornaments in a new technological environment, which also helps to attract the attention of the younger generation to traditional culture, strengthening the connection between traditions and modernity. The aim of the research is to study the interpenetration and mutual influence of artistic techniques and creative methods of creating traditional ornaments for adaptation and application in the process of developing multimedia projects. The main objectives of the research include, firstly, consideration of the use of motifs of Russian traditional ornaments in a new technological environment on the example of student projects; secondly, analysis of the project process for creating motion graphics made using elements of traditional ornament and revealing the sound image of a musical composition created for an orchestra of folk instruments; in-third, the analysis of aspects of the development of elements of traditional ornament with examples of tools that implement a particular technology. In the course of the study, the analytical method of pre-project analysis, the formal-stylistic method of describing and analyzing the art form as the internal organization of the structure of the interaction of elements in the composition of a traditional ornament were applied, the experimental method of designing a multimedia composition was considered. As a result of the research, specific features of synthesizing a set of possible solutions in creating a design project with the active use of the sound component were identified. The role of sound/musical composition in the design of a multimedia project, the main methods, techniques of working with images and applying effects to create a comfortable existence and development of traditional ornamental motifs in a modern digital environment are analyzed. The technological aspect of creating a visual and sound composition was also analyzed.

Abstract: The object of the research of the article is an actual topic for a modern designer – the forms of representation of a sound/musical image by visual expressive means. The subject of the study are examples of information and accompanying materials developed for cultural events related to music. The projects of contemporary authors Duan Zhihua and Rocio Galarza (Rocío Galarza) are analyzed. The purpose of the work is to consider the specifics of creating a visual image of a musical/sound composition, as well as the design approach of conducting project work on creating a composition in which visual and sound contexts form a structural unity. The research method in this work consists in applying an analytical approach to the analysis of design projects dedicated to music, which is based on the synthesis of iconographic and semantic analysis of compositional solutions, and can be used in the design, research and educational activities of the designer. The scientific novelty of the research lies in the introduction of new empirical material into circulation, in which the creation of a project compositional form is considered as the creation of a communicative system based on the combination of expressive means encoding information about visual and sound content. The study showed that the musical image perceived, as a rule, through the performer, in creating its visual equivalent implies its interpretation by the designer. The analysis of the projects of modern designers posted on the web confirmed that in a visual image that carries information about a musical and artistic event, visual and sound contexts form a structural unity, becoming a unique subject for study, contributing to the development and improvement of design methods. In the works of modern designers Duan Zhihua and Rocio Galarza, there is a desire to develop compositions that differ in an easily readable semantic connection of artistic and expressive elements with a broad socio-cultural context.

Abstract: This paper takes the intangible cultural heritage of Chinese handicrafts as the object of study, aiming to deeply explore the mechanism of its inheritance and protection. The intangible cultural heritage of handicrafts refers to traditional artefacts and handicraft products created through craftsmanship, as well as the knowledge, skills and cultural expressions associated with them. Such heritage is not only a collection of tangible products, but also intangible cultural expressions rich in history, culture, skills and philosophy. They often represent the history, tradition and identity of a culture. Chinese handicrafts have a rich history and contain many cultural connotations and historical values. Each craft holds deep cultural traditions and unique regional characteristics. The innovation of the article is that it proposes a diversified protection framework, stresses the synergy of government, market and society, and analyses the lessons learned in combination with specific cases. It is found that although China's intangible cultural heritage of handicrafts faces many challenges, such as the impact of industrialization, the transformation of the market economy, and the loss of talents in traditional skills, its inheritance and preservation can be effectively promoted through measures such as improving laws and regulations, strengthening public education, and promoting social participation. The article ultimately calls for the construction of an inclusive protection mechanism to achieve the sustainable development of China's handicraft-based intangible cultural heritage. (This article is the result of the project "Mutual learning of strategies for preservation and transmission of intangible cultural heritage of Russia and China in the field of handicrafts".)

Abstract: The object of the research is the regional art environment. The subject of the research is the role of art practices in the development of the art environment. Special attention is paid to special features of the art environment as an element of the sociocultural environment as well as their role in the creation of artists’ self-assemblies and art initiatives. The author describes two kinds of the art environment, internal and external, and examines stages in the development of the art community as well as studies the factors, which influence leads to the transformation of the art environment from being incapable of reproduction and development to a reproducing ‘alive’ community. The main research method is the analysis of the development experience of both state and private institutions that deal with contemporary art in Russian regions. The result of the research is the conclusion that the motive why today’s artists living in regions tend to create regional self-assemblies is the search for likeminded people, desire to communicate within the framework of the general discourse and develop a dynamic art environment. The novelty of the research is the analysis of the regional art environment as the basis for creation of artists’ self-assemblies.
